The Goddess Deluxe Chocolate Smoothie

Who needs love - I'd rather fall in chocolate!

THE GODDESS DELUXE CHOCOLATE RASPBERRY AND ACAI SMOOTHIE
a medley of South American Super Foods!

Be a Goddess (or a God!) have Chocolate for breakfast!

It's a super food!  Revered as The Food of the Gods!

Cacoa pods
"The divine drink, which builds up resistance and fights fatigue. A cup of this precious drink permits a man to walk a whole day... without food." Montezuma, Aztec Emperor

Something about this South American Super Food cocktail makes me feel all sexy and hot! With Cacoa (aka cocoa) from Peru and Acai berries from the Amazon rainforest, you can't help but get where I'm coming from, right?
I lived on this smoothie, having it for breakfast almost everyday, when I was living in LA . It's decadent, delicious, nutritious and fun! Cacoa contains caffeine so you get a nice natural buzz and the Acai adds a sweet yet tart berry flavour. Both cacoa and Acai are full of antioxidants. Acai also contains lots of omega fats and amino acids - basically there's loads of good stuff in this that your body will love!

Ingredients:

2 or less cups of frozen raspberries
1/4 cup dates (soak them in warm water fist to soften)
2 tb almond butter
2 tb Acai powder
1 tb cacao powder
1 tb cacao nibs
1 tsp vanilla powder extract
Handful of spinach (or kale)
A small handful of coriander
Lots of coconut water  (depending on how thick you want it!)

Add a few ice cubes. Blend together. Pour and enjoy!

Twice Blessed Muffins!

Twice Blessed Muffins!

Gluten and Guilt Free!

"The quality of mercy is not strain'd
It droppeth  as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath: it is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:"

- The Merchant Of Venice by Shakespeare

Emotional eating? Guilty! But the years have showed me that denial is not the way, it just leads to inevitable misery.  I think the best approach is damage limitation. So, as a Virgo who likes to be prepared, I try to have a stash of these guilt free muffins on hand because I know that it's not a matter of  if I need cake, but when I need cake (usually when I'm watching Netflicks at the end of a crappy day). They're also a great substitute for your morning breakfast pastry.

This recipe is from the book  "Meals that Heal Inflammation" by  Julie Daniluk

Ingredients - makes 12

2 1/2 cups of almond flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 tbsp vanilla powder or essence

1/2 cup of olive oil
1/2 cup of maple syrup or raw liquid honey
3 eggs
1 cup of blueberries or raspberries ( fresh or frozen)

Preheat oven to 150 degrees Celsius.
Line your standard 12 cup muffin tin with paper cases.
In a medium bowl mix the dry ingredients together.
In another bowl whisk the eggs and mix in the rest of the wet ingredients.
Add the wet ingredients to the bowl of dry ingredients.
Fold in the berries until they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Divide the batter between the muffin cups.
Bake the muffins in the oven for 15 minutes then rotate and bake for another 15 minutes.
Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
Once cooled, store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Good Grains In The Morning, Stop You Yawning!

Mango Millet Porridge

Full of Beautifying Minerals!

Quick and easy!

Gluten free! Dairy free! Vegan! Alkalising! Kosher certified!

As the spring sun seems to have taken a leave of absence here in Herts, I've been craving a more comforting breakfast to warm me through. This one is brilliant! Adapted from  Kris Carr's book Crazy Sexy Kitchen, it keeps me satisfied well into lunch time.
Unlike oats, millet doesn't encourage yeast overgrowth or candida. It's a great way to get beautifying minerals into you, minerals that most of us are deficient in. Minerals that give you boundless energy. (For the ladies, I find myself in need of more minerals around my time of the month. Particularly the Bs.)
You can find millet in most good health shops.

Recipe - for One

1/4 cup of millet
5 pieces of frozen mango ( you can buy frozen mango in Tesco)
1 1/4 Good Hemp Milk (sold at Tesco and Waitrose, is my personal favourite, but you can use your favourite dairy free milk alternative)
3/4 tsp of vanilla bean powder
2 big pinches of cinnamon
A large pinch of good quality coarse sea salt

Put the millet, vanilla, cinnamon, salt and 1 cup of the milk in saucepan.
Bring to the boil. Stir.
Simmer gently for about 10 minutes, until most of the milk has been absorbed and the millet is plump, stirring regularly.
Add the mango and the rest of the milk.
Simmer for another 5 minutes, or until the mango is thawed.
If all the milk is absorbed, add a bit more, you want it nice and moist. Yum!

Morning Beauty Blast - Accelerated!

Accelerate your Morning Beauty Blast...

Take a probiotic with your tea. But be sure your tea is not too hot when you take it, as the heat will kill the little chaps! ( I wait until it's almost finished before I take my probiotic).

Probiotics are great for the skin, and the lemon turmeric tea (as long as it's not too hot!) provides the perfect environment in your body to allow the good little bacterias to work their magic.

Morning Beauty Blast!

First things first....
7am

 Skin

Give your morning a beauty blast with this quick, simple detoxifying and alkalising morning tea.

Great if you've had a night of heavy drinking or sugar binging.....trust me! lol!

Recipe:

The fresh juice of half a lemon.
A pinch or two of the spice turmeric (or cayenne pepper*)
Hot water.
Cold filtered water to top up.

Slice the lemon in half.
Squeeze the juice into a tall glass. (I like to do this the Italian way!**)
Fill half the glass with hot water (boiled and left to stand for a couple of minutes).
Sprinkle in your turmeric.
Fill the remaining half of the glass with cold water.
Drink slowly.

* I prefer turmeric first thing in the morning, it's a little gentler. Cayenne is fiery!

** my darling singing teacher of 5 years, Madame Nadine du Barry introduced me to this method. Her husband Georgio was Italian. You hold the lemon half in one hand and a fork in the other. Over your glass, push the fork into the lemon flesh and wriggle fork while squeezing the lemon. It's quite fun!
